The first and foremost would be the fact that it was a global war. More than 30 Nations participated in the war in the four years, and the majority were on the sides of the allies, and we all know the list. Serbia, the United States, Russia, Britain, France, and Italy are the allies. Germany, Bulgaria, the Ottoman Empire, and Austria Hungary together formed the central powers and opposed the allies. It all began as if it was a small conflict. Then, it turned into a war, becoming a global conflict. The problem spread over the geographical scale and even included the regions from Africa and the Middle East.
The mobilization of national resources occurred with the participation of every nation in the war. Further, the government had to take control of the production. It came up with so many machine guns and airplanes and tanks and artillery pieces. They offered whatever they needed for the war to win. It was evident with the participation of the Britain government.
Participation Of Citizens
We all should know that the war was not inevitable or accidental, and that is purely based on human decisions and actions. More than 65 million reasons volunteer to back the country and in one way or the other, millions of people of their support. It could be working in the agriculture or jobs that were left when the men went to the Army or just in any industry. The victory was dependent on the support that the citizens provide to that particular government. Some Nations even forced their people to surrender and tested their emotional and physical limits until they stopped fighting and joined them for the support.
The first world war was against the people. Whichever Army was invading, committed atrocities on the civilians who occupied the area. It became common as the attacking Nations broke the morale and reduced the public support for that particular Nation. The propaganda directly attacked the national characters of whoever was the enemy.
Likewise, there has been a significant advancement in weaponry and military technology, and the people came up with strategies to combat tactical challenges. Everything they cared about was to gain an advantage over the other. This also helped them to innovate. The first world war was more than just fighting, as it leads to a lot of production and inventions. Besides, even factors like manufacturing, communications, and medicine, there was a lot of improvement. The fact that growth was continuous and that is what we have to notice.
